ABSTRACTION

Another One Shot Manga from Kago Shintaro that expresses his idea with the usual violence, sex and bizarre-ness in 3D! A great approach of how to present manga panels with a sick and twisted reference.

If you appreciate arts and creativity, then this manga is for you. Yes, this is really a twisted and odd manga. You have to think how the story goes. And the manga panel comes in 3D! Kago Shintaro really redefines how to present a manga. It does capture my attention since this kind of genre is what I usually prefer. He also did a good choice to make it as a One Shot Manga since I don’t think he can make a follow up for this one. Graphically, it is simple yet it has an awe-factor to it. Also, the sequence will give you a quite the “WTF”.

JUDGMENT :

ABSTRACTION is a READ (or somehow a BROWSE since very less reading here). You’ll never know what is on the next page or on the other side for that matter. This one is a good tool to remove the peace of mind of anyone you want to annoy.

AKUMETSU

Story of Shou being a vigilante that is trying to straighten up the corrupt government of Japan. “One man, One Kill” code of action. Setting is in the near-future Japan where politicians and businessman are cause and part of the corruption that gives a massive economic downfall, increasing the public deficit to an enormous seven hundred trillion yen and triggering an economic recession. And Shou is there to eliminate all the evil (rotten politicians and businessman) with his infamous Oni Mask.

How should I start this? Well, this manga sure is intelligently created. With all those political and business ideas, also the corrupt way of doing things in their area, the manga gives off a wide knowledge of how rotten your environment can be. A real comic character has been built upon Shou to give off remarkable kills. Though at first you will be keep on wondering how many is he when every kill his head is blown off. Every character is well played, especially the hopeless Prime Minister. But as the pages go by, I got annoyed by that Akumetsu Theater wherein that puppet-like character explain to much about every corrupt activity the targets are involved in. It slows down the phase of the story. In any case, you got to have at least a bit of an idea of what are they are tackling about to know why Shou needs to kill them.

Graphically speaking, it is wonderful. Great details on how gruesome it can get. Yes, this one is another “Mature” manga. Though I don’t recall any nipples are shown off but there will always be blood on every chapter. Somehow, I don’t like how the hair or facial feature of Shou is being drawn. Too simple and less thought for his face but the ONI MASK carry the awesome-ness. Hard to tell the exact details on the mask but I like how it is designed. I wish I could hold on a replica of it. Mask plus his face sure gives off a great graphic chemistry for his character.

JUDGMENT:

AKUMETSU is a READ. It reflects so much of what our society really is and will make you wish he do exist. You might get bored with this one if you don’t get much of the topics brought upon this manga. I only assure that this truly is a great manga that knows what makes it and how filthy our world is.

Note: AKUMETSU means destroyer of evil or to eradicate evil (something like that)
